Songstall

A great new system to allow independent and unsigned musicians to sell their mp3s online. The system is great in a number of ways, but there are two major reasons to use Songstall above all others...

  • We do not charge any signup fees, and your music is on sale immediately. It is completely free to join, and Songstall only takes a cut when you make sales. We don't make money unless you do.
  • You get your own customisable shop page. You can add logos, colours, text and photos to make it match your own site, so you can sell your music the way you want to!

Darkstore

Primarily a festival store/stall and if offering the free selling of merchandise and music at all festivals in 2010. This will ensure whatever retail value your items are worth you will receive 100% return. Darkstore would ask that one unit from each item is offered as a prize draw or charitable donation as an incentive to help drive interest generally in unsigned music and foot fall into the store environment.

The CD Compilations - Being on the Triple CD (Whatever Next Records)

We still believe in the CD! We have cleared 5000 copies in the last 5 releases in less than 6 months of each release. It's a sure fire way of getting your music listened to.

It's important to create a level of promotion using the CD, as this gives us instant opportunity to play the music you give us and leave copies with everyone and not just those familiar with modern technology.

  • CD's: This is your chance to be one of the 60 Band Quest bands selected to be on the Compilation CD's – for early 2010. The Release is based on recordings being submitted on time. All you have to do-submit a Master Copy or record at one of the studios we put forward that have discounted their rates for this compilation.
  • Duration: The Cd's will be made up of 78 minutes worth of music and to allow for 20 tracks we are looking for tracks of no more than 4 minutes. If a track is of a longer duration we may require a subsidy as we'll be losing bands from the 20 we have predetermined. You remain in full ownership of your rights and you are merely licensing Whatever Next Records the use of the track for 1 run of 1000 copies of this CD.
  • Costs: The CD is based around a cost of £1500 (1000 copies) which includes all costs related to the commitments we make. We will aim to sell 500 copies at a net value of £2 per CD. This requires a further £500 and therefore this year's CD is to be costed at £5 per band member of the band wishing to be on the CD i.e. 5 members £25. You can pay this to us direct or we can deduct it from your deposit. A further Track supplement of £1 per track position will be required. i.e. Track 1 is £20 and Track 20 is £1 (Track 5 is £16, and Track 14 is £7 and so on)
  • Content: Please supply band Images, Email and Myspace addresses to be used in the Booklet for promotion and recognition enabling contacts to directly liaise with the band.
  • Publicity: You'll be featured on promotional bulletins, to help grow awareness that your band has been involved in a professionally released CD
  • Entitlements: Each band member gets 2 copies per member (provided they play a promotional launch show) to sell or distribute to industry in 2009 all inclusive of the cost, more available at £2.00 each if pre-ordered. All other band members will get 1 copy if they don't play a promotional launch show.
  • Industry Commitment: We will be sending 100 copies of each CD to specially selected Industry addresses for their perusal. These will include Labels, Venues, Reviewers and Promoters although this is not a limited list.
